Linocut is one of the oldest printmaking techniques in Lithuania. During this workshop, participants are briefly introduced to various graphic art techniques.
They become acquainted with linocut prints by the artist M. B. Stankūnienė preserved in the museum’s collections, as well as with their themes. Participants are introduced to graphic art tools and receive a safety briefing.
Each participant creates their own design on linoleum, carving it with special gouges. The carved linoleum block is then inked with special printing ink and printed onto paper using a professional printing press. Every participant produces a unique work of art.
Regardless of age, the linocut creative process often surprises participants with unexpected results, while teaching patience and concentration. At the end of the session, the completed works are briefly presented and discussed.
The theme of the workshop can be adapted to the season or calendar holidays.
